Embodied healing and growth for mothers
Motherhood is one of the hardest and most important jobs you will ever do. It pushes you past your limits, it asks you to heal old wounds and grow in ways you never imagined.
I support overwhelmed mothers to find their flourishing through embodied trauma counselling and transformative motherhood groups. Whether you are needing deep trauma healing, supportive group growth, or to better understand what you are going through, my main concern is your motherhood wellbeing.
My home-based practice is located in Cape Town's Tokai. I offer individual motherhood counselling in-person and online and I facilitate motherhood growth groups in the Southern Suburbs. I offer different pathways to motherhood flourishing, Watsapp me on 0828848580 to set up your free discovery call to see which pathway will best fit your motherhood needs.
My Approach: 3 Pathways to Motherhood Flourishing
Motherhood is a powerful and challenging experience for many women. About 20% of new moms struggle with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADS) requiring clinical support.
But for majority of new moms, early motherhood struggles are developmental rather than clinical. For this group of mothers, the symptoms of distress, which can include heightened anxiety, rage, grief and overwhelm indicate a need for support, growth and healing through the challenges of motherhood.
My approach supports mothers to move from motherhood overwhelm to motherhood flourishing through three pathways:
1. The pathway of healing: individual embodied trauma integration counselling to release and heal old wounds that are contributing to the experience of maternal distress.
2. The pathway of growth: guided mothermorphosis groups that support a collective process of motherhood transformation and development.
3. The pathway of psychoeducation: Interactive talks and workshops on Matrescence, to help new mothers understand the profound process of biological, psychological and social transformation they are going through.
These pathways are not mutually exclusive and mothers can combine different pathways depending on their individual trauma histories and motherhood needs. Watsapp me on 0828848580 to set up your free discovery call to see which pathway best fits your needs.

Meet Dr Kim Wale
I am a mother, a Specialist Wellness Counsellor, a researcher and a author based in Tokai.
My pre-motherhood work focussed on trauma and healing. But when I became a mother I shifted my focus to matrescence - the profound developmental process of becoming a mother. You can read more about my work on Empowering Matescence: https://bit.ly/4cpg2hY
Whether motherhood is triggering old traumas that are ready to heal, challenging you to grow in ways you never thought possible, or calling you to discover new wellsprings of wisdom and joy within, it would be my pleasure to walk beside you through your motherhood journey.

How We Can Work Together
Embodied Trauma Integration
Embodied Trauma Integration is my signature therapeutic approach, offered through one-to-one counselling in my peaceful home practice in Tokai and online across South Africa. Together, we create a supportive and confidential space where you can reconnect with the wisdom of your body, release and heal old wounds, and begin to embody new possibilities for healing, hope and transformation.
Mothermorphosis Groups
Motherhood is one of life's most profound transformations. The transition into motherhood, known as matrescence, is a time of immense change, as old identities begin to dissolve and new ways of being emerge. The Mothermorphosis Group Journey is inspired by the extraordinary biological process of metamorphosis, in which a caterpillar becomes a butterfly. Through reflection, dialogue, somatic and creative practices, I facilitate a group process of motherhood transformation. New group starting in October 2026 in Southern Suburbs.
Matrescence Psychoeducation Talks
Recent research highlights the profound changes a new mother goes through from the structure of her brain to her identity and values. This potent developmental window is called matrescence.
As a new mom, learning about matrescence opened my mind and heart to the significance of what I was going through. And I hope it will do the same for you.
Next Talk: Sat 19 Sept 11am-12pm
OR Wednesday 23rd Sept 7-8pm
